CMX2: Login and User Access Permissions

Overview

Everything in CMX2 is configured using a Web interface, to which users identify themselves by using a username and password. Since there are likely to be several people within an organisation working on potentially many projects using CMX2, the platform supports a sophisticated access control system.

Flexible role-based access controls for every user

Every user account on CMX2 can be configured with a number of permissions which govern access to the different features of the application. For each main section (content management, portal design, messaging services, statistics, etc.) a number of different roles exist which grant varying levels of control. For example, a user with the "Repository Manager" role may create new content collections, delete content items and update metadata, whereas a "Repository Viewer" role can strictly look but not touch the content. Each feature typically has Viewer, User and Manager roles, and any combination of access to features may be applied for a given user.

Access control to individual groups of settings

As well as managing the level of control a user has over each of the features in the application, it is also possible to govern which items they can exercise those permissions upon. Users can be allowed free reign over all data in a client account, or they can be restricted to certain collections of content, services, portals or statistics.

Create logins for employees, partners and clients

CMX2 allows clients to create any number of additional logins to their account so that multiple people can contribute to the running of services. By apportioning roles and access control selectively, logins suitable for individual tasks can be created, such as content suppliers uploading new media, promoters viewing message statistics, or designers modifying portal layout.

White labelling and reselling support

The CMX2 web interface can be re-skinned to dsiplay a client's own logo and colour scheme, and made available from behind a custom URL (http://contentplatform.yourcompany.com, for example), to both maintain a consistent brand across the enterprise and allow the functionality to be re-sold to other businesses without revealing that MX Telecom is hosting the service.
