Free Cross-Carrier Wireless Service Attracts Participation From Leading Fast-Food Restaurants Including Subway®, Quiznos, Ben & Jerry's and Dunkin' Donuts
NEW YORK - 27th March 2007
MX Telecom, a leading provider of global SMS text messaging and wireless multimedia solutions, today announced at CTIA Wireless that GoMobo.com has selected MX Telecom's messaging gateway to operate its free text message food ordering and payment service for time-conscious mobile consumers. Fast food restaurants including Subway®, Quiznos, Ben & Jerry's and Dunkin' Donuts are currently available on the service at selected locations.
MX Telecom is operating the US Short Code 466626 ('GoMobo' on a phone keypad) and providing the messaging gateway and services to deliver GoMobo.com's food ordering and payment service.
"The US has gone mobile with 229 million active mobile accounts in 2007. GoMobo.com is mobilizing the food ordering process. It's drive-thru for the mobile urban consumer: the Fandango of food," said Noah Glass, GoMobo.com Founder and CEO. "We selected MX Telecom as our strategic messaging gateway provider to capture this audience. MX's technical excellence, commitment to the mobile channel, speed to market, and mature carrier relationships are core to the development and success of the GoMobo.com service."
Customers can sign up for a free GoMobo.com account online at http://www.gomobo.com/ by listing their mobile phone number, creating a password and providing credit card information. Customers can also customize their GoMobo.com account to select favorite restaurants and food orders and create "GoCodes" - order short cuts.
To place a pick-up order, consumers can simply text a GoCode to short code 466626. The restaurant accepts the order and the customer's credit/debit card is charged. A confirmation text message is sent to the customer with an alert stating when the order will be available for pick-up at the GoMobo.com Express Lane at the restaurant. At pick-up the consumer gives the cashier the last 4 digits of his/her phone number for authentication.
"We are pleased to work with a mobile-savvy company that has achieved market leadership in a number of consumer convenience markets," said Alex Moir, CEO of MX Telecom. "We look forward to working with GoMobo.com on future offerings including MoboREADY, which is a ready-time notification service, and MoboCALENDAR, a calendar-based alert service."
