MX Telecom to run Video Short Code services for Public Broadcaster

London - 27th January 2006

MX Telecom has officially been selected by the BBC as its provider of 3G video short codes, and will thus supply the technology to deliver user-generated video content from 3G mobile phones to programme teams.

3G mobile phone users can simply enter a 5 digit short code, press the video call button, and immediately connect to a service. As the video call channel is two-way, mobile phone users will be able to view video content, or record their own videos which can then be used in a number of ways. The user controls this process using the keypad digits to navigate through menus during the video call.

To date, MX Telecom has provided the broadcaster with SMS, MMS, interactive voice services and other video short code services, and will offer them the ability to link different facets of mobile communications together in an intelligent manner.

Mark Fitzgerald, Managing Director at MX Telecom, commented, "We are delighted that the BBC has chosen MX Telecom to run its video short code services, and are enthusiastic about our continuing partnership. We believe that 3G video, in particular video short code services, are set to really take off as businesses realise the heightened user experience and the new possibilities that the technology affords."
