MX Telecom Video Gateway Service - Pricing

Overview

With the continually increasing number of 3G handsets in the marketplace, video services are becoming ever more popular, and the demand is set to rise much further with the launch of Video Short Codes across all the UK mobile networks. The MX Telecom Video Gateway Service allows service providers to deliver live or recorded video content straight to an end user's 3G handset. Details on pricing for the Video Gateway service are below.

Monthly Access Charges for Video Short Codes

The following table details the charges for each aspect of the Video Gateway Service. All prices are in GBP and are exclusive of VAT.

Per Minute Charges

The above table includes per minute charges to the service provider which apply for any Video Short Code service. These are as follows:

• There is a 0.05 GBP per minute charge for an 'Interactive Video Response' service. If the end user makes a video call to a Video Short Code and has various menu options to select different video clips, then there is a 0.05 GBP per minute call charge to the service provider. This charge applies to the service provider on a per minute basis for each call made to a Video Short Code.

• There is a 0.05 GBP per minute charge for a 'Video Recording' service. If the end user makes a video call to a Video Short Code and then selects an option to record their own video clip using the camera on their 3G handset, there is a 0.05 GBP per minute call charge to the service provider. This charge applies to the service provider on a per minute basis for each video clip recorded by an end user.

• There is a 0.10 GBP per minute charge for a 'Live Video Streaming' service. If the end user makes a video call to a Video Short Code and is connected to a live video stream, then there is a 0.10 GBP per minute call charge to the service provider. This charge applies to the service provider per live stream (i.e. not for each end user who dials into the service). The IVR charge of 0.05 GBP per minute per user, as described above, also applies.

• The 'Satellite Feed Video Stream Hosting' describes the service where MX Telecom will receive a satellite television channel feed directly off a satellite on behalf of the service provider, providing a continuous video stream on to a Video Short Code. The 0.10 GBP per minute charge for Live Video Streaming only applies when one or more callers are viewing the live Satellite Feed.

If a Video Short Code service includes the option for the end user to make an outbound audio call or outbound video call during their video call to the Video Gateway, then additional per minute call charges will apply to the service provider to cover the costs of these outbound calls.

For example, whilst watching a live horse racing video service having called into a Video Short Code, the end user could have the option to be connected during the video call to a bookmaker's call centre in order to place a bet prior to the horse race that was being streamed live. This could be done simply by pressing any keypad button on their 3G handset when given the option to be connected to the call centre. At that moment, the MX Telecom Video Gateway would make an outbound audio call to the call centre, whilst still allowing the user to view the horse race on their handset screen whilst speaking to the call centre.

An example of a service where an outbound Video call could be incorporated is for a video dating service; a live call can be made from the Video Gateway to an end user's 3G handset (which rings and can be answered like a normal audio or video phone call). This allows two end users whose dating profiles match (and whose consent has been given) to make a video call via the Video Gateway to each other, whilst allowing them to maintain their anonymity. The per minute call charges for these outbound video calls are borne by the service provider and are detailed below.

Video Short Code Tariffs and Outpayments

Video Short Codes are available at a range of tariffs, from free-phone and standard rates up to a maximum of GBP 5.00 per minute. It is also possible to have a drop charge at the start of a video call, also up to a maximum of GBP 5.00. Any combination of a per minute billing tariff and a drop charge can be set up for a video service. (Vodafone UK, Orange UK and T-Mobile UK currently only support per minute billing. Drop charges will be available during Q3 2006).

MX Telecom offers revenue outpayments / charges for Video Short Code services as detailed below:

Free Phone Tariff

Each Video Short Code set at a zero rated free-phone tariff incurs per minute call charges. These vary per network and are detailed in the outpayment tables as a negative figure.

Standard Rate Tariff

The use of a Video Short Code charged at the standard network rate tariff generates outpayment revenues of 5.0p per minute, regardless of the network or monthly volume band. Standard rate minutes contribute to the combined monthly volume for the purposes of determining the outpayment rate for drop charge outpayments.

For all networks:

• All costs and revenue payments exclude VAT and are quoted in pence.

• The combined monthly volume will include aggregating part-minutes as well as full minutes.

• The outpayment rate is dependent upon the combined monthly volume of minutes for which a Video Short Code is connected to the customer services, in any calendar month.

• Upon reaching a volume threshold as indicated, the respective volume revenue rate will apply to all Video Short Code traffic. Volumes are not aggregated between different networks.

• For networks which support drop charges, the combined monthly volume of minutes generated by the service will determine the volume bracket for the drop charge outpayment tariff.

  For example, where a service has a combined monthly volume of 60,000 minutes on 3G UK and is set at a 2.00 GBP drop charge, the outpayment tariff for the drop charge will be at a rate of 1.367 GBP per 2.00 GBP drop charge.

Examples of Outpayments Received

The following examples show the outpayments that would be received for each scenario for a Video Short Code service on the Three UK network (outpayments vary slightly from network to network). For the purpose of each example, a monthly volume of less than 5000 minutes is assumed:

1. Per minute billing - For a service billing at 2.00 GBP per minute, a three minute call would outpay 303.0 pence (3 x 101.0 pence)

2. Drop charge and Per minute billing - For a service charging a drop charge of 3.00 GBP and then 1.00 GBP per minute, a total outpayment for a call lasting three minutes would be 326.9 pence (1 x 199.4p for the drop charge and 3 x 42.5p for the per minute billing).

3. Drop charge and Standard rate billing - For a service charging a drop charge of 5.00 GBP and a standard rate per minute, a total outpayment for a call lasting for e.g. three minutes would be 343.9 pence (1 x 328.9p for the drop charge and 3 x 5.0p for the standard rate per minute).

4. Drop charge and Free-phone rate - For a service charging a drop charge of 5.00 GBP and a free-phone rate per minute, a total outpayment for a call lasting for e.g. three minutes would be 328.9 pence (1 x 328.9p for the drop charge). However, the cost to the service provider for this call would be 0.35 GBP per minute, so the total revenue generated for a three minute call would be 223.9 pence.

Account Setup

A Video Short Code service account can usually be setup within 2 - 3 weeks.

The service includes the use of a fully web-based interface to upload video content to the MX Telecom Video Gateway via the Internet.

MX Telecom can video-enable either new short codes or existing ones (even if they are existing SMS short codes currently hosted by another aggregator).
