How to Connect to the SMS Gateway
Overview
There are 3 principal ways to connect to the MX Telecom SMS Gateway. Depending on your needs, it may be even desirable to use a combination. For more information on what would be the best solution, please contact us.
1. Direct Technical Interface
The MX Telecom SMS Gateway provides an HTTP and an SMPP technical interface. Messages can be sent from anywhere by making requests to MX Telecom servers over the Internet. Use of a technical interface is more appropriate for clients who have, or aim to design, their own applications for sending and receiving SMS.
- The HTTP interface is the most common, and as such is highly recommended for new clients. More details on the HTTP interface can be found here.
- The SMPP interface is sometimes suited for high volume traffic, as it is a very streamlined protocol, having been developed specifically for SMS. More details on the SMPP interface can be found here.
The SMS Gateway technical section can be found here.
2. Web Edition
Web Edition is a hosted web application for the running and management of simple SMS services. It has been designed for use by non-technical people, and provides a user friendly interface to configure services in a matter of minutes.
Web Edition features:
- Create / upload / download mailing lists;
- Set up auto-responses;
- Include "From:" fields in outbound messages for personalisation;
- Manage multiple messaging services, and route incoming messages by keyword;
- Schedule SMS for future delivery;
- View records of SMS sent/received;
- View incoming SMS in realtime;
