MX Telecom Ranked 1st in The Deloitte Technology UK and Ireland Fast 50 Awards 2006
LONDON - 23rd November 2006
MX Telecom has been ranked 1st in the Deloitte Technology UK and Ireland Fast 50 Awards for 2006. The awards have become the benchmark to identify the fastest-growing technology companies through an objective ranking based on sustained revenue growth over the past five years.
The Fast 50 ranks the 50 fastest growing technology companies by geographic region and supplements the broader Deloitte Technology Fast 500 initiative, in that the winners automatically become eligible to participate in the Fast 500. The program is one of Europe's most objective rankings for the technology, media and telecommunications industries, created to recognize the effort and dedication of those 50 fastest-growing technology companies. It includes all areas of technology: from Internet to biotechnology; from medical and scientific to computers. It includes both public and private companies.
MX Telecom was ranked at 1st position with a growth of 57,939% over the last five years, the highest percentage growth of any company ever ranked in the Fast 50. Directors Mark Fitzgerald and Thomas O'Donohoe founded the company in 2000. MX Telecom channels wireless traffic in voice, video and text between content/service providers and mobile networks. With over 50 employees, nearly 500 clients and industry leading technical infrastructure, MX Telecom is well poised to continue its success story.
Fitzgerald attributes the company's rapid growth to the explosion of SMS in the mobile marketplace, as well as the company's success at being at the forefront of new mobile technologies. In the UK, MX Telecom was the first with cross network wholesale Voice Short Codes, the first with cross-network MMS Short Codes and the World's first with Video Short Codes. MX Telecom invented the concept of Video Short Codes, where 3G video calling and 5-digit short codes are combined.
The company also runs high profile projects such as payment of the London Congestion Charge via SMS. The company has delivered live Big Brother TV to 3G handsets and ran the 3G Video messaging service for the BBC during the 2006 Football World Cup. MX Telecom has worked with broadcasters, production companies, directory enquiry firms, the mobile networks themselves and other major brands to help them grow their business in the mobile space.
"We have been around from the start in mobile data and despite enormous competition we have built the best products and delivered them to market", commented Fitzgerald. "It's fantastic to have won this award. With its emphasis on sustained growth, the criteria for a Fast 50 award are a true test of a business."
