MX Telecom Ranked 22nd in Sunday Times "Tech Track 100"
LONDON - 24th September 2006
For the second year running, MX Telecom has featured in the recent Sunday Times "Tech Track 100", which lists the fastest growing UK technology businesses in 2005/2006. The company was ranked at 22nd position, with an annual growth of 118% a year.
Directors Mark Fitzgerald and Thomas O'Donohoe founded the company in 2000. MX Telecom channels wireless traffic in voice, video and text between content/service providers and mobile networks. With over 50 employees, nearly 500 clients and industry leading technical infrastructure, MX Telecom is well poised to continue its success story.
Fitzgerald attributes the company's rapid growth to the explosion of SMS in the mobile marketplace, as well as the company's success at being at the forefront of new mobile technologies. In the UK, MX Telecom was the first with operator MMS connectivity, the first with cross network wholesale Voice Short Codes, the world's first with Video Short Codes and, most recently, the first with cross-network MMS Short Codes. MX Telecom actually invented the concept of Video Short Codes, where 3G video calling and 5-digit short codes are combined.
The company also runs high profile projects such as payment of the London Congestion Charge via SMS. The company has delivered live Big Brother TV to 3G handsets and ran the "Your Shout" 3G Video messaging service for the BBC during the 2006 World Cup. MX Telecom has worked with other broadcasters, production companies, directory enquiry firms, the mobile networks themselves and other major brands to help them grow their business in the mobile space.
"We are continuing to see high-profile uptakes of video short code services - for example, those run by the BBC and T-Mobile for the 2006 Football World Cup. With video short codes now live on 3, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange, and Virgin and O2 due to follow on soon, we expect continued success in the world of mobile video. We are also continuing the rapid growth and development across all of our products and services, and intend to hold our position as the world leader in new wireless technologies" commented Fitzgerald.
