SMSIVR Billing System

Overview

Services that use a normal IVR Platform can be integrated with the MX Telecom Reverse Billing SMS Service. Rather than charging for the call via a premium rate number, the end user can be billed by sending a reverse billed SMS message to their handset once they have called a Geographic number, Non-geographic number or Voice Short Code.

The key benefits of using the MX Telecom SMSIVR Billing System are:

• Mobile users can be billed a premium amount for a call

  Traditional '090' premium rate numbers cannot usually be called from mobile phones; they are often barred by the mobile networks by default. Even if this bar is lifted, end users can still be restricted in making calls to premium rate numbers. For example, end users on Orange UK cannot call a premium rate number that charges more than 60p per minute, even after having lifted the premium rate bar.

  Mobile phone users can, however, make calls to Geographic or Non-geographic numbers, for example, allowing end users to call voice services that can be billed at premium rates via the MX Telecom SMSIVR Billing Service.

• Several Billing options are available

  SMSIVR Billing Services can be set up with a variety of billing options, including:

  • A Drop Charge, made at the start of the call.

  • A Per Minute tariff rate, applicable for the duration of the call.

  • A Drop Charge and a Per Minute tariff rate can be combined.

  • A Free Period can be included for a specified amount of time.

  • Free Periods and combinations of the above can also be set up.

  • Tariff rates above GBP 1.50 per minute in the UK can be set up (whereas the maximum tariff for a Premium Rate call is GBP 1.50 per minute).

For example, the SMS Billing profiles can be edited for each service.

Calls can be charged for in advance or in arrears and at specified intervals during the call.

Service providers can upload a message to be played for each possible failure, such as the call being made from a landline, or a mobile phone not displaying its CLI. These messages can be uploaded to the system via the Internet. If required, MX Telecom also has pre-recorded messages that can be used for these error prompts.

Service Providers can specify the SMS messages to be sent out to end users when they are billed.

SMSIVR Billing System Pricing

Pricing is as follows:

MX Telecom SMSIVR Billing Service	Monthly Fee (GBP)
SMS Billing via a Shared Short Code	375 per month
SMS Billing via a Dedicated Short Code	1100 per month

• A fee of 0.03 GBP per minute (based upon per second billing) applies for use of the SMSIVR Billing Service. There is no set up charge.

• All prices do not include VAT.

• Shared Short Codes are available at tariff rates of 0.25 GBP, 0.50 GBP, 1.00 GBP and 1.50 GBP.

Lead times are usually 1 - 3 working days for Shared Short Codes and up to 1 month for a Dedicated Short Code. However, if a spare live Dedicated Short Code is already available, the set up time is also 1 - 3 working days.

The MX Telecom SMSIVR Billing Service also includes access to a full live online billing system that displays information on system usage statistics.

Outpayments on Non-Geographic Numbers used with the SMSIVR Billing Service are detailed in the table below. The revenue share rates below do not include the SMSIVR handing charges of 0.03 GBP per minute that are applicable if using the MX Telecom IVR Service.
