Along with its core Reverse Billing SMS text messaging business, MX Telecom has been an early adopter of many new mobile technologies. It has been involved in the trial phases of new mobile technologies with the UK networks and was the first to market in the UK with a cross-network two-way MMS offering, cross-network Voice Short Codes and was the first company in the world to offer Video Short Codes.

Overview of MX Telecom

3G Video Calling

The MX Telecom Video Gateway Service allows service providers to deliver live or recorded video content straight to an end user's 3G handset. Making a video call is very similar to making a voice call. Simply by dialling a 5-digit Video Short Code and pressing the video call button on a 3G handset instead of the normal green "voice call" button, end users can view video content directly on their handset within seconds, using either video, voice, or DTMF as the interactive return path. From the network protocol to the rich application level, our Video Gateway was developed from scratch entirely in-house and is now rolling out across 3G networks in the UK and beyond.

Interactive Voice Services

In common with the rest of the telephony world, Interactive Voice Response (IVR) services are in an exciting state of flux. Voice over IP, voice recognition and speech synthesis technologies are maturing, creating exciting new opportunities and niche markets. MX Telecom is on the cutting edge, with a ground-up VoIP-enabled IVR platform designed and built entirely in-house, and a highly advanced voice application development framework which affords the flexibility to develop interesting and bespoke applications. Whether used from a fixed line or by dialling a Voice Short Code from a mobile phone, tight integration with our existing SMS, Content Management and Location Based Services systems gives MX Telecom the edge as an all-in-one solutions provider.

SMS & MMS Messaging

The MX Telecom SMS Gateway provides companies with a robust, high-capacity means of exchanging SMS with customers in the UK and abroad. With direct SMSC connections to mobile operators across the world, MX Telecom offers a Reverse Billing (premium rate) SMS service which enables a wide variety of micro payment applications where customers are able to purchase goods and services charged directly to their mobile phone bill.

MX Telecom is also a leading supplier of multimedia content delivery solutions, both through the MX Telecom MMS Gateway, which enables exchanging MMS with the UK mobile operators, and our Content Management System, the foundation platform for a vast number of WAP Push driven applications.

Interactive TV

MX Telecom has developed a highly flexible Interactive TV Platform which delivers real-time interactive content for both in-venue and broadcast applications, managed entirely over the Web. The use of mobile handsets for interactivity in television programming eliminates the need to own or use any custom interactive television hardware, and also allows viewers to interact with screens in public areas such as shops, sports stadiums, hotels, licensed premises and airports. When the platform is provisioned with MMS and 3G Video, the end user has unprecedented scope for participating in the programming beyond current "red-button" interactive technology.

Location Based Services

The MX Telecom Location Gateway offers a comprehensive solution to enable third parties to location-enable their applications, pinpointing the whereabouts of any mobile handset via live access to the mobile operators' permission-based location information via direct, secure connections.

Application Development

One of the cornerstones of success for MX Telecom has been attracting a very broad range of clients, no two of which have exactly the same needs. The immense amount of work and expertise which has gone into enhancing and refining the core service offerings means there is usually little effort needed to integrate with the existing infrastructure of a customer. However, in cases where the process is not so straightforward, or requirements fall into the "value-added services" arena, MX Telecom provides bespoke systems integration and application development services in addition to a wide range of existing full-featured hosted applications.
