Description of Role

The candidate will be working on the development of our core products and services across a variety of technologies and business areas including SMS, MMS, Location Based Services, IVR/Telephony, Video and Bespoke Application Development.

As a member of the tightly integrated technical team, work involves design, development, support and maintenance of existing and new projects both internally (on our core systems), and in a client-facing capacity (under our Application Development offering).

Responsibilities

• Technical implementation, testing and deployment of systems
• Maintaining a clean and flexible code base so that new functionality can be delivered quickly and safely
• Requirements capture and design for the development of new features
• Investigation and resolution of complex operational issues
• Ensuring that systems are fit for purpose including unit, system and integration testing
• Delivery of production ready features early and often

Skills and Experience

Successful candidates will satisfy most of the following requirements:

• A Computer Science, Maths or Engineering degree from a top class university with A-levels or equivalent at grades A-B.
• Practical experience of Java, ideally with exposure to open source libraries such as Spring and Hibernate.
• Experience of XP practices such as TDD, pair programming and refactoring.
• Ability to work responsively, building prototypes quickly and evolving these into scalable production-quality systems.
• Some demonstrable knowledge of Linux, HTML with CSS, databases and standard development tools.
• Involvement with open source or hobby projects.
