Case study: Mobile Crediting
When Coca-Cola wanted to give away free phone credit with its drinks, it turned to MX Telecom to put the sparkle into its offer.
Many people use their mobiles to pay for things on the go, from downloading phone apps to ordering goods to be delivered. In a UK first, pioneered through MX Telecom's work for Coke's Gimme Credit promotion, money can now be added to mobile accounts, either as additional pre-pay funds or appearing on a contract user's monthly bill.
Concept
Mobile Crediting lets companies send money to practically any mobile phone account for all sorts of reasons. As well as promotions like Coke's, this includes refunds, rewards for mobile gaming and competition prizes.
Fast-moving, flexible and innovative, MX Telecom was the first mobile applications company to offer Mobile Crediting across all the major networks for both pay-as-you-go and contract accounts.
The company offering the credit sends a request to MX Telecom whose applications check the validity of the transaction. The Charge To Account Gateway sends a request to the network operator to add the money to the mobile account. MX Telecom then sends an SMS telling the phone owner the credit is ready to use.
For Gimme Credit, a unique code worth 50p in free phone credit was printed on bottles of Fanta, Sprite and Dr Pepper which buyers could cash in online or by SMS.
After the huge amount of work we put in, it was great to see the Gimme Credit poster on a bus stop a few
weeks later. It was something no-one else had done before and I could show it off to my friends.
